What is your main craft type?
We appreciate that this may be a difficult question to answer, particularly if you use various different crafts or materials but please try. If there is not a specific category that suits you, try and think of the main materials that you use (i.e. wood, textiles etc) and opt for that. You can enter as many different trade types as you like (see ‘Do you undertake any additional Crafts?’ question) so that you can cover all of your work. The craft or material that you use most should be your Main Craft. Try and avoid using ‘Other’ as this will cause the quotation to refer. If you are unsure what you put in then please do not hesitate to give us a call.

    Business Interruption

    Business Interruption Definition

This section covers your loss of profit following a loss at your premises. If you are unable to make your products due to a full or partial loss at your business premises or loss or damage to your machinery or stock, then you can claim for the profit lost as a result up to the maximum indemnity period selected. There are also some very useful extensions that cover you for loss of profit as a result of prevention of access, failure of public utilities (electricity, gas, water & telecommunications), losses at your suppliers' premises that stop you being able to get raw materials or losses at your customers' premises that result in lost orders – for full details please see the CraftCover Prospectus & Summary or CraftCover Policy Wording in the Documents area of our website.

    Do you require cover?
Please confirm the sum insured you require for Business Interruption

    Gross Profit Definition

    The official insurance definition is:

    The amount by which:

    a) The sum of the amount of turnover & the amount of closing stock shall exceed

    b) The sum of the amount of opening stock & uninsured working expenses (normally purchases (less discounts received), discounts allowed, bad debts, carriage, packing and freight)

This is a bit complicated - An easier way to arrive an accurate figure is:

Total sales minus costs (but leaving in any wages paid to employees)

Please note that this sum insured cannot exceed your annual turnover sum insured.
